The Artists
Jonathan Kline
Jonathan Kline has been working as a sculpture and basket maker for twentyfive years. From the earliest age, his passions were for drawing, painting, architecture, and music. Beginning study of the violin at age seven, he went on to study at the Julliard School and Fine Arts School of Boston University, playing professionally in classical, avant garde jazz, and world music ensembles.
In 1980, his interest in functional beauty and a desire to connect to the world on an elemental level led him to learn the craft of traditional splint basketry. The baskets that he produced during the following years are in collections worldwide. Working with the same material, in the last ten years, his attention has turned largely to sculptural pieces which are shown in galleries and showrooms in the US and Europe.
